RaceAmerica / Engineering

We own the
whole chain.

From a beam at the track to a result in the tower, the parts have to agree. We design the electronics, firmware, communications and software together, then connect them to the displays and safety systems people rely on.

Why integration matters

Every handoff
counts.

A timing result travels through more than a timer. Sensors capture the event. Electronics measure it. Firmware interprets it. A connection carries it. Software turns it into a race result. Displays put it in front of racers and spectators.

RaceAmerica engineers these layers as a system, so we can work across the handoffs when designing a new installation, upgrading an existing track or troubleshooting on race day.

Inside the 5041 sensor

How a beam becomes a timing event.

Follow the light from the sensor to a reflector and back through the receiver lens. When a vehicle interrupts the beam, the electronics register the change and send the event to the timing system.

From the track to the tower

The entire signal path.

Each layer has a job. We design the interfaces between them, too.

01 / DETECT

Sensors & inputs

Starting-line beams, trackside sensors and operator inputs capture what happens at the venue.

02 / MEASURE

Timing hardware

Purpose-built timing electronics register the event and make precise measurements available to the rest of the system.

03 / CONTROL

Firmware

Embedded software runs in the devices at the track, coordinating their behavior and the data they exchange.

04 / CONNECT

Communications

Wireless and wired options connect trackside equipment with race control according to the system and venue.

05 / OPERATE

RA Command

Our race management software brings timing into staging, scoring and event operations.

06 / INFORM

Displays & safety

Scoreboards, lights and digital flags turn system information into a clear signal at the track.

Built as a system

One place to solve
the hard problems.

Our engineering choices span the device, the connection and the software. That gives us a practical way to investigate what happened along the whole path, adapt a configuration to a venue and plan how new equipment works with an existing installation.

01

Designed together

Hardware and software share an intended workflow, from setup through the final result.

02

Configured for your track

Drag strips, autocross courses, ovals and road courses call for different sensors, communications and operator tools.

03

Supported across the chain

When a problem crosses a device and software boundary, our team can look at both sides.

Engineering for real venues

Connected your way.

Choose the architecture that fits the course, the installation and the way your crew operates.

Wireless / T-Link

Freedom across the venue.

RaceAmerica’s T-Link wireless technology connects supported timing and trackside devices where running cable is impractical or portability matters.

Wired / Ethernet

Built for permanent runs.

Wired connections serve installations that need a fixed network path between trackside equipment and race control. We can help assess what suits an existing track.

In development / 3000A

Two paths, one system.

The 3000A architecture in development brings wired Ethernet and wireless communications together as dual data paths. Availability and configuration should be discussed with RaceAmerica.
