Roll Racing
Complete wireless timing system with start line
speed detection and lane differential time

Roll Racing is heads-up competition with two cars side-by-side starting from a pre-set speed roll. With the current manual method, a spotter triggers the green light to race, and the first car across the finish line wins. The race field is diverse, from street driven Honda Civics and mini vans to Teslas, Mustangs and even Lamborghinis. Roll Racing is cheaper, easier on the cars and safer. It’s like street racing, but legal. Roll Racing is not that different from drag racing, but appeals to a larger audience. It’s more about the cars that the drivers. The biggest difference is that the rolling start is easier on the driver and the car than the drag racing start.

Conventional drag racers go through a lot of tires, clutches, transmissions, rear ends, axles and motor mounts. Starting from a dead stop is much harder on a car than gradual acceleration to a start line speed and then taking off. RaceAmerica brings accuracy and innovation to your Roll Racing experience. True automated and accurate starts. Clear runs.

In Roll Racing held at many drag strips, there’s no consistent way to monitor speeds of the cars as they approach the starting line, and it isn’t unusual for one car to get a jump on the other. RaceAmerica makes the ONLY true automated Roll Race timing system for the global racing market. The RaceAmerica System measures true time. True speed.

Combining the accuracy of RaceAmerica's wireless timing systems with safety technology from our Electronic Flagging Systems, the full Featured Roll Race solution evolves.

No need for radar guns or visual observation at the start line. With automatic speed detection at the start line combined with time differential of each lane, Roll Racing starts become very consistent and measurable.

Just like RaceAmerica's other racing systems, large LED Scoreboards can display speeds at the start line as well as speed and elapsed times at the end of the race.

Roll Race Features: How does it work?
Start START LINE
RaceAmerica’s Roll Race timing system automatically detects each vehicle’s speed at the start line and compares it to the track designated minimum and maximum speeds. To ensure both lanes are side-by-side at the start of the race, the system measures the time difference between each lane crossing the start line and compares the delta to the track designated maximum time.
Compliance displays COMPLIANCE DISPLAYS
A light is positioned for each lane acting as a Compliance Display. If a lane exceeds the speed minimum or maximum, the Compliance Display changes to red. If vehicles are not side-by-side at the start line, both Compliance Displays turn red. This prevents a vehicle from jumping early at the start line and ensures a side-by-side start at equal speeds.
The system does not require a worker manually setting the light color at the start or other workers operating a set of radar guns measuring average speeds. The old methods require radio contact, adding delay to the system, while the RaceAmerica electronic solution measures, grades, and operates the lights automatically. And, it is wireless, minimizing cables on the track and makes for easy setup and teardown.
Speed Traps SPEED AND ET
Designed around RaceAmerica's Speed Run timing electronics, a speed trap measure the speed and elapsed time of each lane at the finish line.
