Our track has the largest light and we have one of the power supplies went bad. Where can I get a replacement? These look like ordinary AC bricks and my local electronics store carries a lot of them.

The AC power adapters supplied by RaceAmerica with the TSLs have very tight specifications. All RaceAmerica supplies are 12VDC regulated and filtered power supplies which are different from the cheaper unregulated AC power adapters. The difference is the output voltage. Voltage from a RaceAmerica supplied power adapter is 12.0 to 12.6VDC with no load and 12.0 to 12.3VDC with full TSL load (yellow or white, full bright, solid on). An unregulated 12VDC power adapter outputs as high as 16VDC with no load and generally 11.5 to 13.5VDC with full TSL load. The higher voltage from these unregulated power adapter is too high and will damage LEDs or their control chips over time. If the TSL is connected to your IP network through a IPTrackNet, the higher voltage (16VDC) present will overheat the IPTrackNet and ultimately a failure will occur in the IPTrackNet over time. Do not use an unregulated AC power adapter. Even some power adapters advertised as 'regulated' are poorly filtered and their regulated voltage is still way out of spec.

For reference:

- 6751 and 6750 TSL models use RaceAmerica 6757A AC Power Adapters.

- 6752 TSL models use RaceAmerica 6757B AC Power Adapters with higher current ratings for the larger TSL.

I checked all the power units connected to a lights on our track. One of them is different from all the others so I am guessing it was not purchased from your company. Turns out this is the track location where the light has failed twice with large chunks of LEDs out. I will find a voltmeter and check the voltage from the power adapter.

If you find it is not a RaceAmerica supplied AC Power Adapter, I would stop using it immediately and replace it with a recommended unit. It sounds exactly like an unregulated supply and will continue to damage the light from overvoltage. All AC Power Adapters look similar but what is inside is quite different.

This is a common failure mode when customers want to pay the least to replace failed power supplies. They think all AC adapters are the same just the price is different. RaceAmerica tests all Ac Power Adapters to insure they are within operating specs before we sell then to customers.

Confirming the rouge power supply was purchased locally and does output 15.7 volts disconnected from the light. Removing it from the track and will order a replacement asap.
