Easy way to confirm emitter is working

When we are in the middle of a race and we lose something like a 60 ft time, is there an easy way to confirm the battery powered emitter is still working without swapping it out? Looking for a quick way to speed troubleshooting up rather than swapping the battery or the emitter. This would be helpful when the problem is not the emitter and not waste troubleshooting time on the emitter.

One way for a go / no-go is to use your smartphone\'s camera to view the IR elements in the emitter. On many phone, the IR will look like white or pink circles with squares in the middle. The camera interprets infrared as visible light as shown in this example video.
