Track Electronics
RaceAmerica's Infrared Technology

Over the years, RaceAmerica has developed and enhanced the race proven performance of Infrared Track Electronics. Using our proprietary Dual Digital Coded InfraRed (DDCIR) Technology design, the combination of Infrared Beam Emitters and Track Sensors has evolved into the current high performance beam technology stable in total darkness and in full sunlight without adjustment. The product line keeps expanding to offer more levels of performance and applications.

Model 5020IR Beam Emitter is designed for R/C Scale racing systems with lane widths of 10 to 15 feet (3 to 4.5 meters). The 5020 is our lower power output model and reduced brightness required for high speed detection in shorter distance and lane widths.

IR Beam Emitter is the standard used in every RaceAmerica timing system. The 5040 is designed with a lane width specification of 50 feet (15 meters), tested to 60 feet (18 meters).
Model 5050IR Beam Emitter offers 50% more beam intensity and overall range over our 5040 model. Designed for customers who want to move their track electronics out of harm's way by extending the distance between Beam Emitter and Track Sensor. The higher performance Beam Emitter allows a wider lane width enabling the track electronics to be set back from the racing action.
Model 5060IR Beam Emitter offers the highest performance and range to meet the needs of special applications and water sports. When connected to a 12VDC power source with the included Power Cable, the 5060 offers a significant increase in brightness resulting in range specification of 150 feet (46 meters).

Infrared Track Sensor
Emitter Pix Model 5140/5158 -- RaceAmerica's race proven Infrared Track Sensors are designed to work with all models of RaceAmerica's Infrared Beam Emitters shown above. Using DDCIR Technology, these sensors provide easy setup of any timing system. Place this sensor on the track, 'eyeball' the positioning aimed at the emitter, and attain alignment 95% of the time. No intricate time consuming alignment procedures, especially when someone runs into the track electronics and a quick recovery is required to keep the race event moving.
How They Work Together
Emitter Pix
Unlike laser emitters which require the beam be precisely aimed at the sensor, RaceAmerica's IR Beam Emitters shoot a wide angle pattern allowing the sensor to lock in even if not aligned exactly. Similar to being in a dark warehouse with someone shining a flashlight from the opposite corner. Even though the flashlight is not aimed at you, you can still see the point source of the flashlight. The beam locking capability of a RaceAmerica Track Sensor combined with the wide angle dispursion of the RaceAmerica Beam Emitter combine to stay aligned and eliminate falsing even when high powered vehicles vibrate the track around them. The emitter/sensor pair are among the best IR devices on the market today at any price range.
