Timer T4
Performance Multiple ET Timing System

Timer T4 Pix
When tuning your vehicle, having the ability to make a pass on the track and record elapsed times along the way is extremely helpful to determine the improvement level as you tune. RACEAMERICA's Timer T4 offers the flexibility to measure up to four elapsed times during the same run. By placing Sensors along the race track at different locations, up to four different ET's can be measured from the starting line during a single pass. When the vehicle breaks the starting beam, all four timers start real time counting and are displayed to a thousandth of a second. As the vehicle proceeds down the track tripping the next beam, the associated timer stops counting recording the ET. All measured times can be downloaded to a PC for import into a spreadsheet using the included PC Data Capture Software and interface cables.

Typical Track Installation with 4 ET's

3400 Timer T4 Installation
Typical installation for a 660 foot track length with intermediate elapsed times at 60 foot, quarter track, half track and 660 foot. Track length and intermediate time placement are available in several standard packages. Custom track lengths and placement of the intermediate sensors can also be customized to meet the customer's needs.

PC Data Capture Software

PC Software Screen

All elapsed times measured by the Timer T4 can be saved to the hard drive of your PC using the included PC data capture software shipped with the Timer T4. The PC screen displays the four elapsed times and saves them in a file on the hard drive with a date and time stamp for each run. The data file can easily be imported into most spreadsheet programs for comparison and statistical analysis using the sorting capabilities of the spreadsheet application.

Frequently Asked Questions

... and the Answers
What do I get when I order a Timer T4 system? The Timer T4 console with four ET timer displays, two of our race proven Infrared technology Beam Emitters and two of our race proven Infrared technology Track Sensors, Power patch cord for 12VDC op4eration, Communication Cable to connect to a PC, a Sensor Interconnect Track cable, and PC Data Capture Software. Add battery power and you are ready to make your first measurement. Additional Sensor/Emitter pairs can be added to measure other ET's along the track.
What do I need to buy in addition to the Timer T4? Only batteries. A 12-volt automotive or marine battery supplies power to the Timer t4 Console and all Track Sensors. The IR Beam Emitters use four AA size or D size batteries, (dependent upon your application) alkaline or Ni-Cad. AC Adapters are also available to power the timer as well as the IR Emitters.
What do I purchase to add more ET's measured on each pass? Order model 6024A Addon ET Package for eack ET to be measured. Up to three aditional ET's can be measured by the Timer T4.
What do I need to do to print timeslips? The Timer T4 system includes the capability to print timeslips with the addition of the one of RACEAMERICA's model 6038 Dot Matrix Printer Packages. Everything is included to connect up to the Timer T4 and print timeslips with all four ET's. The printer plugs into the RS232 serial port of the Timer T4 in place of the PC.
What if my track length is not a standard length? RACEAMERICA sells a wide variety of cable lengths. Standard lengths include 500 foot and 660 foot cables for snowmobile applications, 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile for fullsize dragstrip applications. RACEAMERICA can custom manufacture a cable to match your track length from as short as a few feet to as long as a 1/4 mile.

Infrared Sensor & Emitter AA or D size Batteries
RACEAMERICA Infrared Sensors overcome the problems with sun light and alignment common with many photocell or low tech infrared solutions. Other manufacturers use photocells which are very sensitive to sunlight and work poorly in bright sunlight. Other manufacturers also use more expensive laser powered beam emitters which generate a bright light to their low tech IR sensors. These seem to work if the sensors are shaded well from sunlight but often are internmittent when running a race event. While others purchase their sensors from outside sources, RACEAMERICA's Infrared Sensors were designed by RACEAMERICA back in 1991 and we have been perfecting them ever since. Our sensors are designed to operate from total darkness to the brightest sunlight accomplished through a coded digital signal.

The proven drag racing technology of RACEAMERICA's Infrared Track Sensors and Beam Emitters provide line-of-sight detection of moving objects and the Infrared design is immune to radio interference and bright sunlight. The Track Sensors connect to the Pro Tree JR system using an RJ-11 connector for fast and easy setup. The Beam Emitters are powered by a choice of four AA-size or four D-size batteries and provide detection of objects up to 50 feet away.
