The XL Professional S4 is designed for 4-lane Ice and Grass Snowmobile Drag Racing events offering Pro and Full (Sportsman) starting lights formats. The XL Professional S4 is also available in a 2-lane package expandable to the 4-lane configuration. Fewer track cables is achieved through the implementation of a Wireless Data Comm Link between the tower and the track. PC software is included to control and configure the timing system. Finishing Order is displayed on both trees and on the PC Screen after each race. The XL Professional S4 provides ET and RT standard, with Speed and 60 Foot times as add-on options. Choose your preference of drag tree, track cabling, and scoreboards to configure a system to match your racing event.

Console Pix The S4 Timing Boxes are located at the start line between lanes 1 & 2 and lanes 3 & 4. The timing box connects to the tree, starting line beams, and wireless link to the tower.
PC Software Pix PC Software controls all aspects of the timing system and provides diagnostics and live testing of vital system components.
Dual Beam Guard Dual Beam Start/Stage Guard Units Single Beam and Dual Beam start line electronics are available for ATV and Snowmobie racing events.
The timeslip contains race results for all four lanes printed on 4-1/2" wide paper. The XL Professional S4 can print timeslips in the tower connected to the PC and print timeslips anywhere on the track using RaceAmerica's Wireless Data Comm Links. Timeslip Pix

Frequently Asked Questions
... and the Answers
What do I get when I order a XL Professional S4 system? The XL Professional S4 Timing System includes two S4 Timing Boxes pictured above, Wireless Data Comm Links to the Tower, two Drag Trees (12VDC Competition or 110VAC/230VAC Professional models), our race proven Infrared technology Beam Emitters and Track Sensors for starting and finish lines, and Track Cables to get you started racing on a standard 500 or 660 foot track length.
What do I need to buy in addition to the XL Professional S4? Only batteries. If using 12VDC Competition Christmas Trees, two 12-volt automotive or marine battery supplies power to the two Drag Trees, Timing Boxes, and Track Sensors. The IR Beam Emitters use four AA size or C size batteries, alkaline or Ni-Cad.
Can I connect a Timeslip Printer or Scoreboard to the system? The XL Professional S4 establishes Wireless communications and control of the two Timing Boxes on the track. Using the same wireless link, the timing system also establishes Wireless Links to the Timeslip Printer and Wireless Scoreboards. This is no ordinary wireless system. This Wireless is capable of communications measured in the miles range and means high reliability for the XL Professional S4 timing system.
How do I operate the timing system? The XL Professional S4 is controlled from the tower using your PC and our XLscore S4 software. The Tower communicates with the two Timing Boxes using a highly reliable Wireless Data Coimm Link. Track Sensors on the track can be monitored for alignment to aid track setup, Wireless Data Comm Links can be monitored and tested, and races can be started from the PC while monitoring the staging in each lane.
How do I stage my snowmobile with the XL Professional S4? To stage your snowmobile, roll the snowmobile up to the starting line until the staging lights illuminate. If you stage too far forward and cross the starting line, the stage lights go out indicating a need to back the sled up. You are properly staged and ready for a run. Staging on all four lanes is monitored on the PC screen in the tower to ensure proper staging before starting a race
Can I print a timeslip after the run? Timeslips can be printed for all four lanes after each run. Bib Numbers, Lane Finishing Order, Elapsed Time, Reaction Time, Speed, 60 Foot Time, Total Time, and Redlight information are printed on the timeslip. A two line header is also printed at the top of each timeslip customized by entering the header into the PC software in the tower. The custom heading information can be the raceway name, race organization name, promoter's name, telephone numbers or anything that will fit on two lines.
What information can be recalled to the PC and trees? The last race run by the XL Professional S4 can be recalled, displaying each lane's ET, RT, Speed, 60 Foot Time, Total Time, and Finishing Order on the PC screen while finishing order is displayed on both Drag Trees for the drivers and the crowd.
Can I operate the 4-lane system as a 2-lane system? The XL Professional S4 offers the flexibility to operate as a 2-lane or 4-lane system. When operating in 2-lane mode, the PC software automatically detects which two lanes are being used and operates in a 2-lane mode. Operation is the same as a 4-lane system even when in 2-lane mode eliminating the need to learn two different ways of operating the same timing system.
What if my track length is not a standard length? RaceAmerica sells standard length cables at 500ft and 660ft. RaceAmerica can custom manufacture a cable to match your track length from as short as a few feet to as long as a 660 feet or longer.

RaceAmerica Infrared Sensors overcome the problems with sun light and alignment common with many photocell or low tech infrared solutions. Other manufacturers use photocells which are very sensitive to sunlight and work poorly in bright sunlight. Other manufacturers also use more expensive laser powered beam emitters which generate a bright light to their low tech IR sensors. These seem to work if the sensors are shaded well from sunlight but often are internmittent when running a race event. While others purchase their sensors from outside sources, RaceAmerica's Infrared Sensors were designed by RaceAmerica back in 1991 and we have been perfecting them ever since. Our sensors are designed to operate from total darkness to the brightest sunlight accomplished through a coded digital signal.

The proven drag racing technology of RaceAmerica's Infrared Track Sensors and Beam Emitters provide line-of-sight detection of moving objects and the Infrared design is immune to radio interference and bright sunlight. The Track Sensors connect to the Timer AC4 system using an RJ-11 connector for fast and easy setup. The Beam Emitters are powered by a choice of four AA-size or four D-size batteries and provide detection of objects up to 50 feet away.
