New horizontal race track scoreboards available

Postby BennyT » Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:42 am

My boss just bought another track 280 miles from this location. We added a Race America Top 5 position scoreboard to this track a few years ago and he wants to update the existing light bulb scoreboard at the new track. This track has a vertical scoreboard and the new track has an old horizontal scoreboard which he wants to replace since it is not working. We were able to assemble this vertical scoreboard ourselves and get it working. Do your horizontal top 5 scoreboards go together like the vertical one did? He would like to remove the old horizontal scoreboard and use the existing structure for a new scoreboard.

The same smaller sectional design of our Vertical Top 5 Scoreboards is duplicated in the Horizontal Top 5 Scoreboards to enable track personnel to assemble the scoreboards without the use of a crane. Both the Vertical and Horizontal are available in Top 3, Top 5, and Top 10 positions as well as optional Lap and Time Display. The Horizontal option for Lap and Time Display also includes Media Panels to add sponsor advertising on the open areas of the scoreboards. The same simple interconnect between positions is used to assemble both types of scoreboards. Both Vertical and Horizontal Scoreboards have proprietary wireless communications back to the laptop to control them. These scoreboards can be operated manually with RaceAmerica Scoreboard Control software or can interface to any transponder software with an Rmonitor scoreboard feed such as MyLaps Orbits and Westhold Race Manager. The scoreboards automatically update vehicle numbers, lap count, and lap times directly from the transponder software.

Another question - does the lap and time need to be attached to the top 5 or can it be mounted in a separate spot? The new track has a lap and time but it is partially blocked from view for part of the left side stands.

The Lap/Time Display is a separate enclosure from the Top5 vertical and horizontal scoreboards.

With the vertical scoreboards, the Lap/Time can be mounted anywhere even in a different location on the track.

With the horizontal scoreboards, even though the Lap/Time is separate and could be mounted anywhere on the track, there is a Media Panel included designed to function as a filler panel. The 'look' of the Top3 or Top5 would be a top row of Lap/Time + Media Panel(s) and a bottom row of Position Vehicle Numbers. This makes a rectangular for a rectangular scoreboard. The top row functions and is powered separate from the bottom row so the Lap/Time can be located anywhere on track breaking up the rectangular 'look' but still fully functional.
