RACEAMERICA uses their existing electronic components developed for their professional Drag Timing Systems to construct a Custom Timer to meet your needs. Since the components already exist, the high cost of developing these components is eliminated! Customizing the microprocessor program to your specifications is the only development required. This concept greatly reduces the design costs associated with developing custom timers and insures high quality components with proven track records are integrated into your custom timer.
The Infrared Sensor Units and Infrared Beam Emitters were designed, tuned, and perfected over the past seven years by RACEAMERICA. This insures error free operation and completely eliminates the problems with sunlight normally experienced in other timing systems. The Infrared Beam Emitters operate from a choice of four AA-size batteries or four D-size batteries. The efficiency of the Beam Emitters means four AA batteries will last for 60 hours of continuous operation. Try holding a button down on your infrared TV remote for 60 hours, the batteries go dead in minutes! |

RACEAMERICA Infrared Sensors overcome the problems with sun light and alignment common with many photocell or low tech infrared solutions. Other manufacturers use photocells which are very sensitive to sunlight and work poorly in bright sunlight. Others manufacturers also use more expensive laser powered beam emitters which generate a bright light to their low tech IR sensors. These seem to work if the sensors are shaded well from sunlight but often are internmittent when running a race event. While others purchase their sensors from outside sources, RACEAMERICA's Infrared Sensors were designed by RACEAMERICA back in 1991 and we have been perfecting them ever since. Our sensor are designed to operate from total darkness to the brightest sunlight accomplished through a coded digital signal.
The proven drag racing technology of RACEAMERICA's Infrared Track Sensors and Beam Emitters can easily be incorporated into any Custom Timer design. Providing line-of-sight detection of moving objects, the Infrared design is immune to radio interference and bright sunlight. The Track Sensors connect to the Custom Timer using an RJ-11 connector for fast and easy setup. The Beam Emitters are powered by a choice of four AA-size or four D-size batteries and provide detection of objects up to 50 feet away.

Finally! A battery powered printer! This 40-column Dot Matrix Serial Printer ships from RACEAMERICA with the battery power supplied from the timing system. No batteries required! The printer uses a standard 1/2" wide ribbon to produce clean, crisp characters on 4-1/2" wide continuous feed paper available at any office supply store. An external paper roll stand is included to accomodate larger rolls of paper. The printer offers a very compact size measuring 8"W x 8"D x 4"H. without the printer roll stand attached. |
